Natural Hair
Loss
Although
perhaps not desirable, hair loss is quite normal. The causes
are many and varied but one thing is for sure and that is
untold millions of people of all sexes and ages are affected by
it worldwide. The correct term for hair loss is Alopecia. Male
pattern hair loss is the most common form, representing close
to 95 percent of all cases in men; and due to a hereditary
condition: Androgenic Alopecia.
Some people
only lose a small amount of hair and this is often down to a
poor diet and is worth checking with you specialist. There are
other reasons though, some of which you may know including:
mental tension, stress, hormonal imbalance or perhaps an over
exposure to chemicals or cosmetics. No matter what the reason,
it is worth remembering that it is only if the hair follicles
are damaged that can make the condition permanent. Often
considered as a purely male problem, in America women actually
make up forty percent of people that suffer with some form of
the condition.
In fact,
hair loss is also common among women as they age although with
women a thyroid condition is one of the more common causes.
Globally, nearly 40 percent of women by age 60 will have
experienced some form of the condition. Pregnant women are
sometimes susceptible to some hair loss often lasting until
after the child is born. If you always thought that patterned
hereditary baldness was a male problem then you will be
surprised to learn that in America approximately 30 million
women also suffer from this condition.
A new but a
treatment that is becoming increasingly popular is surgical
hair restoration; it is considered the ultimate solution for
those who suffer with permanent hair loss. It involves the
process of transplanting hair follicles from one area of the
scalp to another. The whole hair transplant procedure is
carried out on an out-patient basis under local anesthetic and
is becoming the most routinely used form of treatment for
males. However, hair restoration is also not only for men any
more, hair transplants for women are also achievable today and
is a frequent choice of women who have scarring from previous
surgery, notably from facelifts.
When you
are having hair transplant therapy it may be tempting to try
and change your appearance but the best course of action is to
try and stay as much like your original appearance. Existing
medical conditions could cause problems so these must be sorted
out before any hair transplant treatment is considered.
Although hair restoration is considered a cosmetic treatment,
there are different aspects involved it and must not be
confused with other types of cosmetic procedure. New hair
restoration techniques are being discovered all the time but if
you have not found success then perhaps hair transplant therapy
might be your only course of action for your hair
loss.
